Assistance Available For Small Businesses Through PTAC Services
CHAMPAIGN, IL, May 2, 2016 – The Illinois Small Business Development Center at Champaign County EDC is pleased to announce the addition of PTAC services via Mary Turner, Center Director of the Illinois Procurement Technical Assistance Center at Western Illinois University.
Illinois Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs) are resources for small businesses looking to enter the world of government contracting. The centers provide one-on-one counseling, technical information, marketing assistance and training to existing businesses interested in selling their goods and services to local, state, and/or federal government agencies.

Mary Turner directs the service activities of the PTAC at Western Illinois University. She has been with the PTAC program since November of 2004. Her credentials include being a level 3 Certified Contracting Assistance Specialist through the Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (APTAC). Currently, she is serving as Region 6 Director of APTAC which includes the states of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Michigan. She has also completed level 1 of the Federal Contracting Certification program. She has been a long-term member of numerous associations such as the Illinois Entrepreneurship & Small Business Growth Association, Association of Procurement Technical Assistance Center, Armed Forces Communication and Electronics Association Small Business Committee and North Central Regional Council. Prior to her current position, she was a Project Manager with the Illinois Manufacturing Extension Center and was a past employee and contractor for the Cummins Diesel Engine Company. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree from her host institution, Western Illinois University.
